Mother and Daughter photo shoots are a special kind of session. It doesn't matter if your daughter is 8 years old, 18, or 48 - if you haven't experienced one of these photo shoots, you really should. It is a fantastic way not only to bond with your parent (or your child), to have one-on-one time, but it's a way to create a tangible memory with them. Yes, there is pampering, and laughter, and maybe even champagne but there is also an immortality to it as well. An heirloom you create for your family to cherish for years to come and that is priceless.
Jacqueline thought that too, when she called on me to book a session with her mom as a Mother's Day gift. We had a ball in the studio, even despite my challenging both of them just a little outside their comfort zones ;-) and I'm happy to report that they not only accepted those challenges but were really excited for the results in their portraiture. Me too.
One of the things that struck me about Jacquie and Cynthia's photo shoot was that it is normally a mom calling me to book in a photo shoot for her tween or teen daughter. In this case, Jacquie called me because, even as an adult she and her mother had never had portraits made, not in their lives. It was important to share this time for both of them. It wasn't "just" a Mother's Day gift. It was everything.
Do you have portraits with your mom? With your dad? Sibling or best friend? I would love to photograph you.
