summer camp - entrepreneurship - camp Girlboss - Asheville - leadership

Camp Girlboss is a summer camp here in Asheville for middle school-aged girls from 11-13 years that teaches entrepreneurship, self confidence, and foundational practices for girls who want to dream big. I was lucky enough to be a part of the mentorship of these young women and to photograph them to create marketing collateral for them which showcased their individual personalities as young women and business owners.

This summer camp wasn't just any summer camp either. At the helm of the ship was Emily Breedlove, the Executive Director of Hatch Asheville. (You might remember Emily from my previous post as we created new branding materials for her as well) At any rate, this camp wasn't put on to charge large prices, but was put on by the entrepreneurial community in sponsorship for these girls. A project of this caliber was no small feat and certainly not inexpensive however, businesses from all over western North Carolina came together to ensure that the program was accessible to girls from all communities here in western North Carolina and each of these girls is now better for it.

Some of the girls business ideas included:

  • pet care
  • photography
  • social advocacy
  • concierge services
  • bakeries
  • adventure camps
  • artist
  • climate change
  • book recommendations
  • coworking artist featuring directory

and the list goes on. These girls had really incredible ideas and spent the week determining not only their viability, but their infrastructure to offer it to the public. It was incredible.

It was an honor to be able to mentor these girls during their headshot sessions with me. Each has their own unique perspective on the world and it was my honor to be a part of helping them bring that vision to life.
